PHP Developer

We have an excellent opportunity for a PHP Developer to work on a range of cutting-edge websites. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years professional experience as a fully explored PHP Developer. He/She will have a full working knowledge of PHP including it’s capabilities and strengths, as well as an excellent understanding of other back end web languages such as SQL and dynamic HTML. Any additional knowledge of programming in other languages would be of an advantage, as is the ability to demonstrate a wider interest in web and new media technologies. The ideal candidate will be able to provide evidence of an impressive portfolio. Applications should include relevant URLs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and communicative individual with a positive attitude and a high standard of English and mathematics.


Key duties include:

  • Programming and coding
  • The development and support of PHP driven products for our established client list as well as new client websites
  • Producing technical-design ideas for new sites and site revisions
  • Database management, optimisation and interrogation
  • System testing
  • Writing and maintaining functional specifications and system documentation
  • Assisting with general housekeeping
  • Supporting internal and external users in the use of the web sites
  • Proposing improvements to systems, processes and development tools

As a perfect candidate you will have:

  • Proven experience of PHP Development and Object Orientated Programming
  • Good knowledge of webservices (SOAP) and XML
  • Database technologies: Transact SQL, MySQL, SQL Server
  • Additional knowledge of programming in other languages such as Coldfusion, ASP
  • System and Database Design
  • Creative flair and visual literacy
  • Good documentation and communication skills
  • Ideally educated to degree level

Salary: £28,000 to £36,000 depending on experience

Location: Leeds City Centre

Start date: ASAP
